~* Εκλογές στα κατεχόμενα της Κύπρου


Εκατόν εξήντα τέσσερεις χιλιάδες Τουρκοκύπριοι και έποικοι από την Τουρκία, προσήλθαν στις κάλπες, στο κατεχόμενο τμήμα της Κύπρου, για τις «προεδρικές εκλογές» του παράνομου καθεστώτος.
Εκατόν εξήντα τέσσερεις χιλιάδες Τουρκοκύπριοι και έποικοι από την Τουρκία, προσήλθαν στις κάλπες, στο κατεχόμενο τμήμα της Κύπρου, για τις «προεδρικές εκλογές» του παράνομου καθεστώτος. Σύμφωνα με τα πρώτα αποτελέσματα ο σκληροπυρηνικός στο κυπριακό Ντερβίς Έρογλου προηγείται του τουρκοκύπριου ηγέτη Μεχμέτ Αλί Ταλάτ. Με καταμετρημένο το 7,15% των ψήφων ο Ντερβίς Έρογλου συγκεντρώνει 50,27% και ο Μεχμέτ Αλί Ταλάτ 41,53%. Οι υποψήφιοι είναι επτά, αλλά οι βασικοί αντίπαλοι είναι οι Μεχμέτ Αλί Ταλάτ και Ντερβίς Έρογλου. Τα τελικά αποτελέσματα αναμένονται γύρω στις εννέα το βράδυ. Αν σήμερα, ουδείς εκ των υποψηφίων συγκεντρώσει το απαιτούμενο 50%+1, οι «εκλογές» θα επαναληφθούν την ερχόμενη Κυριακή, μεταξύ των δύο πρώτων της σημερινής ψηφοφορίας. ~** Τεταμένο κλίμα στη Λωρίδα της Γάζας
Παλαιστίνιοι εκτόξευσαν ρουκέτα από την Λωρίδα της Γάζας προς το έδαφος του νοτίου Ισραήλ, χωρίς να υπάρξουν θύματα ή υλικές ζημίες, ανακοίνωσε ισραηλινός στρατιωτικός εκπρόσωπος, διευκρινίζοντας ότι η ρουκέτα προσγειώθηκε σε αγρό.
Παλαιστίνιοι εκτόξευσαν ρουκέτα από την Λωρίδα της Γάζας προς το έδαφος του νοτίου Ισραήλ, χωρίς να υπάρξουν θύματα ή υλικές ζημίες, ανακοίνωσε ισραηλινός στρατιωτικός εκπρόσωπος, διευκρινίζοντας ότι η ρουκέτα προσγειώθηκε σε αγρό. Παράλληλα, ένας Παλαιστίνιος σκοτώθηκε κατά τη διάρκεια σύντομης εισβολής των ισραηλινών τανκς στη Λωρίδα της Γάζας, την επομένη της ανταλλαγής πυρών που οδήγησε στον θάνατο των δύο ισραηλινών στρατιωτών, έγινε γνωστό από παλαιστινιακές ιατρικές πηγές. Ο Παλαιστίνιος σκοτώθηκε από την έκρηξη οβίδας που εκτοξεύθηκε από τεθωρακισμένο άρμα μάχης, ενώ επτά ακόμη Παλαιστίνιοι τραυματίσθηκαν. Τα ισραηλινά τανκς, υποστηριζόμενα από ελικόπτερα, διείσδυσαν σε απόσταση εκατό μέτρων, στην περιοχή του Χαν Γιούνες και στη συνέχεια αποσύρθηκαν στο ισραηλινό έδαφος. Η επίθεση πραγματοποιείται μια ημέρα μετά τον θάνατο δύο ισραηλινών στρατιωτών κατά τη διάρκεια ανταλλαγής πυρών με παλαιστίνιους μαχητές κοντά στον φράκτη ασφαλείας που χωρίζει το Ισραήλ από τη Λωρίδα της Γάζας. Σύμφωνα με τον ισραηλινό διοικητή της νότιας περιοχής του Ισραήλ, τον στρατηγό Γιοάβ Γκαλάν, τέσσερις συνολικά Παλαιστίνιοι σκοτώθηκαν κατά τη διάρκεια της ανταλλαγής πυρών την Παρασκευή. Οι Ταξιαρχίες Εζεντίν αλ - Κάσαμ, η ένοπλη πτέρυγα του κινήματος της Χαμάς, που ελέγχει τη Λωρίδα της Γάζας, ανέλαβε την ευθύνη για την επίθεση με ανακοίνωσή της. Σύμφωνα με το κείμενο, δύο ισραηλινοί στρατιώτες σκοτώθηκαν όταν οι μαχητές των ταξιαρχιών «αντάλλαξαν πυρά με μονάδα των ειδικών δυνάμεων του σιωνιστικού στρατού, που πραγματοποιούσε διείσδυση στον τομέα του Χαν Γιούνες». Οι Ταξιαρχίες Αλ-Κοντς, η ένοπλη πτέρυγα της Ισλαμικής Τζιχάντ, ανέλαβαν επίσης την ευθύνη για άλλη επιχείρηση εναντίον ισραηλινών στρατιωτών.




~** Ακυρώνονται σύνοδοι της ΕΕ λόγω της ηφαιστειακής τέφρας
Οι σύνοδοι των υπουργών της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης, που επρόκειτο να πραγματοποιηθούν τη Δευτέρα αναβλήθηκαν εξαιτίας των ματαιώσεων πτήσεων που προκάλεσε το νέφος από την ηφαιστειακή τέφρα, όπως ανακοίνωσε η ισπανική προεδρία της ΕΕ.
Οι σύνοδοι των υπουργών της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης, που επρόκειτο να πραγματοποιηθούν τη Δευτέρα αναβλήθηκαν εξαιτίας των ματαιώσεων πτήσεων που προκάλεσε το νέφος από την ηφαιστειακή τέφρα, όπως ανακοίνωσε η ισπανική προεδρία της ΕΕ. Σε αυτές περιλαμβάνονταν η Σύνοδος Συμβουλίου υπουργών Γεωργίας και Αλιείας της ΕΕ, η οποία θα πραγματοποιείτο στο Λουξεμβούργο, και η διάσκεψη ΕΕ και Κροατίας με θέμα το αίτημα για ένταξη της τελευταίας στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση, που θα πραγματοποιείτο στις Βρυξέλλες, ανακοίνωσε η προεδρία την Κυριακή. Η ανακοίνωση της ισπανικής προεδρίας αναφέρει ωστόσο ότι το Συμβούλιο των υπουργών Τηλεπικοινωνιών της ΕΕ θα πραγματοποιηθεί την Δευτέρα στη Γρανάδα όπως ήταν προγραμματισμένο. Επίσης, η Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση προγραμμάτισε ειδική τηλεδιάσκεψη των υπουργών Μεταφορών της ΕΕ, για τη Δευτέρα, ανακοίνωσε η ισπανική προεδρία της ΕΕ. Οι υπουργοί Μεταφορών της ΕΕ θα συζητήσουν για τα αποτελέσματα της έκρηξης του ηφαιστείου Eyjafjallajoekull στη νότια Ισλανδία.-



~** Κηδεύτηκε ο Λεχ Κατσίνσκι
Ο Πρόεδρος της Πολωνίας Λεχ Κατσίνσκι και η σύζυγός του Μαρία Κατσίνσκα, που έχασαν τη ζωή τους σε αεροπορικό δυστύχημα στη Ρωσία, ενταφιάστηκαν την Κυριακή σε μια κρύπτη στον καθεδρικό ναό της Βαβέλ στην Κρακοβία.
Ο Πρόεδρος της Πολωνίας Λεχ Κατσίνσκι και η σύζυγός του Μαρία Κατσίνσκα, που έχασαν τη ζωή τους σε αεροπορικό δυστύχημα στη Ρωσία, ενταφιάστηκαν την Κυριακή σε μια κρύπτη στον καθεδρικό ναό της Βαβέλ στην Κρακοβία, ένα πάνθεον των εθνικών ηρώων της Πολωνίας. Εν τω μεταξύ, ξένοι ηγέτες προσευχήθηκαν στο πλευρό του πολωνικού λαού που θρηνεί για το θάνατο του προέδρου της χώρας Λεχ Κατσίνσκι και της συζύγου του, Μαρία, στη νεκρώσιμο ακολουθία που τελέστηκε νωρίτερα στην Κρακοβία. Τα δύο σφραγισμένα φέρετρα, το ένα δίπλα στο άλλο, κοντά στην Αγία Τράπεζα, ήταν τυλιγμένα με την πολωνική σημαία. Το προεδρικό ζεύγος σκοτώθηκε μαζί με 94 άλλους ανθρώπους σε αεροπορικό δυστύχημα στη Ρωσία. Το μοναχοπαίδι τους, η Μάρτα, και ο δίδυμος αδελφός του προέδρου, Γιαροσλάβ Κατσίνσκι, ο οποίος είναι επικεφαλής του αντιπολιτευόμενου Κόμματος του Νόμου και της Δικαιοσύνης, κάθονταν στην πρώτη σειρά. Μέσα στη Βασιλική, όπου τελέστηκε η νεκρώσιμος ακολουθία, βρίσκονταν άλλοι συγγενείς, ο πρόεδρος της Ρωσίας, Ντμίτρι Μεντβέντεφ και οι ομόλογοί του της Ουκρανίας, της Τσεχίας, της Ουγγαρίας, της Σλοβακίας, της Ρουμανίας και της Γεωργίας, ο εκτελών χρέη προέδρου της Πολωνίας Μπρονισλάβ Κομορόφσκι και ο πρωθυπουργός της χώρας Ντόναλντ Τασκ καθώς και περίπου 700 άλλοι άνθρωποι. Περίπου 30.000 άνθρωποι, κάποιοι εκ των οποίων έρχονταν από το εξωτερικό, στέκονταν έξω από την εκκλησία και παρακολούθησαν τη νεκρώσιμο ακολουθία από γιγαντοοθόνες. Νωρίτερα τα φέρετρα με τις σορούς του προεδρικού ζεύγους μαζί με εκείνα των υψηλόβαθμων πολιτικών και στρατιωτικών αξιωματούχων και των μελών του πληρώματος του αεροσκάφους οδηγήθηκαν με αυτοκινητοπομπή στη Βασιλική της Κρακοβίας. Εκατοντάδες άνθρωποι ακολούθησαν την πομπή κουνώντας πολωνικές σημαίες και ραίνοντάς τη με λουλούδια. Ένας μεγάλος αριθμός ξένων ηγετών αναμενόταν να παραστεί στην κηδεία, αλλά πολλοί αναγκάστηκαν να ακυρώσουν τα σχέδιά τους εξαιτίας του νέφους της ηφαιστειακής σκόνης. Μεταξύ των 40 ηγετών που δεν παρέστησαν τελικώς είναι ο πρόεδρος των ΗΠΑ, Μπαράκ Ομπάμα, η γερμανίδα καγκελάριος Άνγκελα Μέρκελ, ο γάλλος πρόεδρος Νικολά Σαρκοζί και ο πρόεδρος της Αυστρίας Χάιντς Φίσερ. Ο Τσέχος πρόεδρος Βάτσλαβ Κλάους και ο πρόεδρος του Ευρωκοινοβουλίου Τζέρζι Μπούζεκ μετέβησαν στην Κρακοβία με τρένο ή αυτοκίνητο.-

The best colleges in the world today are the private colleges in America. The gulf between them and the state-funded colleges in equally rich countries such as France, Germany, Italy, Japan, or South Korea, where there are few private colleges of note, is so huge that the lesson cannot be avoided, colleges need independence to flourish. It is interesting that the intermediate group of colleges are those in Britain and Australia where colleges, though funded and over-regulated by the state, nonetheless retain significant autonomy.

Even Fourth Reich(EU) agrees, and the Commission reports that American colleges are better than Europe's, because European
colleges generally have less to offer and lower financial resources than their equivalents in other developed countries, particularly USA. American colleges have far more substantial means than those of European colleges and beteer eggheads. The gap between the US and EU expenditure stems primarily from the low level of private funding of higher education in Fourth Reich.

Young people are among the biggest victims of Whigs' economic mismanagement, with almost 900,000 not in any kind of job or training.

A Tory government will not accept another generation being consigned to an uncertain future of worklessness and dependency. Our plans to deliver an extra 400,000 training opportunities over the next two years will ensure that everyone gets the good start they deserve.

A Tory government will:

* Provide 10,000 extra university places in 2010;

* Introduce an early repayment bonus on student loans which are repaid ahead of schedule;

* Work to improve the way that universities are funded so that students get a fair deal, disadvantaged young people don't miss out and researchers get the funding they need;

* Provide people with much better information about the true costs and benefits of going to university and help people choose the course and institution which is right for them;

* Create an extra 100,000 apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeships each year;

* Give small and medium businesses a £2,000 bonus for every new apprentice they hire, and make it much easier for firms to run apprenticeships;

* Provide an extra 100,000 college places over two years so unemployed young people can improve their skills;

* Provide 100,000 new `work pairings' over two years so unemployed young people can get meaningful work experience and mentoring from businesspeople;

* Offer much better careers advice, including providing expert advice in every secondary school and college and setting up a new careers service for adults.

* Establish a Community Learning Fund to help adults who want to learn new skills or restart their careers;

* Abolish many of the further education quangos which Whigs have created, and cut bureaucracy and inspections in colleges so teaching staff can spend less time in the office and more time in the classroom; and

* Delay the implementation of the new funding system for universities, the Research Excellence Framework, and work with academics to ensure that there is a robust and acceptable way of measuring the impact of all research.

What can't be found online can be found in books, and what can't be found in books can be found through internships, jobs, and mentors. Do not waste your time with colleges anf eggheads. There is a glut of college graduates in the labor market. Many of them move back home with their parents and take jobs that do not require a college degree.

The everybody-must-go-to-college doctrine is hardly a blessing. How many young people are delivering pizzas with a diploma on the wall and a big student loan keeping them up at night? It's true that the watered-down, increasingly worthless bachelor's degree today is expected for nearly every job, but let's not fool ourselves: For most grads it's little more than a signal to potential employers that they had the perseverance to get up early four years running and jump through all the required hoops. That tells a human-resources director enough about an applicant to separate him from a rival who didn't do those things. It doesn't say anything about what he knows or can do.

Venitis notes that many colleges offer instruction online. An increasing number of colleges, such as MIT, Yale, Stanford, UC Berkley, Oxford, and Cambridge, are placing course content, including lectures and instructional materials, online for free. There are many programs that allow students to earn college credits by studying and completing an exam remotely. Through these types of programs, a student can earn college credit through self-study at a fraction of the cost of a traditional college course.

Venitis asserts that college is very expensive. Total average tuition, room and board for a bachelor's degree is around $100,000. 80% of all students graduate with more than $30,000 in debt, and 40% say it will take them ten years to pay off their debt. College tuitions are so expensive specifically because the government has guaranteed student loans. Guaranteed loans don't mean more access to education, but rather that universities are free to charge more per pupil than if their customers were paying out-of-pocket.

Obama's plan only serves to remove more market forces and creates an even bigger moral hazard. Under the new rules, students will be required to repay a much smaller portion of what they borrow. As a result, students will be willing to borrow even greater amounts of cash to pay inflated tuitions, making it that much easier for colleges and universities to raise them.

Since the government will actually be loaning the money directly, rather than simply guaranteeing private-sector loans, the Treasury will actually have to borrow the money itself before it can relend it to students. The irony of going into debt to loan money never registers in Washington. As this bill will cause tuitions to rise even faster, it will necessitate even larger loans that will produce even greater taxpayer losses when the loans end in default.

More than half of college students require six or more years to finish their degree. Going to college requires commitment and dedication, and you'll need to be in it for the long haul. In order to graduate, you'll need to take some courses that are not relevant to your interests and passion. The average college freshman spends ten hours a week partying, eight hours a day engaged with media and technology, including games, cell phones, TV, and social networks, and only ten hours a week actually studying.

Students go to prestigious institutions because these schools have great reputations, which, in turn, allows students to get the best jobs. In other words, students who go to elite institutions want the faculty to concentrate on research and raising funds because that is how universities get the best reputations. Therefore, what students are purchasing is not an education, but prestige and reputation. Nevertheless, parents, students, and taxpayers should know where their money is actually going, and everyone should be concerned about the quality of education. If students at elite institutions do not get an effective education, but they do get to purchase prestige, our society will produce leaders, workers, and citizens who lack the basic skills and knowledge to be effective inside and outside of the workplace.

Most top presidents and self-made billionaires dropped out of high school or college! The list includes Bill Gates(Microsoft), Larry Page(Google), Michael Dell(Dell), David Geffen(Geffen Records), Steve Jobs(Apple), Richard Branson(Virgin), Ralph Lauren(Ralph Lauren), Jerry Yang(Yahoo) and Zuckerberg(Facebook). Zuckerberg and Gates went to Harvard. Page and Yang both attended Stanford. Jobs only completed one semester at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. Dell left the University of Texas at 19. Geffen dropped out of three universities before launching his record label. Lauren went to Baruch College in New York City, but left after two years. Branson, a mild dyslexic, never made it out of high school. Ford Motors founder, Henry Ford, never had any formal education, outside his training as a machinist.

Basil Venitis points out two roommates of Amherst College of Massachusetts, Anthony Samaras and George Papandreou, lead the two most corrupt political parties on Earth, Nea Democratia and Pasok. Papandreou is the premier of Greece, and Samaras is the leader of opposition. Papandreou participated in the kleptocratic government of Simitis, and Samaras participated in the kleptocratic government of Caramanlis. They are very good friends, but in public it's their job to accuse each other. Love in private, hate in public!

Opening New Democratia's conference in Nafplio on Saturday, Samaras launched a harsh attack on the way Papandreou and his government had handled the economic crisis but also acknowledged that mistakes had been made by his own party as well.

Samaras said to resounding applause from delegates that Nea Democratia has admitted all its sins and is getting rid of the dead weight of the past. Samaras asserts this is mandate he was given and this is the mandate he intends to carry out. He stressed that Nea Democratia, the most corrupt political party on Earth, would work to rebuild people's faith in the party from the beginning again, with the first step in this direction being the election of the party's leader by 800,000 people.

Samaras stressed that Nea Democratia would exercise a responsible opposition and not hesitate to clash with the government, especially when this seemed to have no plan for dealing with the crisis, while he held Papandreou personally and fully responsible for the country economic state and for driving Greece into the arms of the IMF.

Samaras declared Papandreou has not yet understood anything, that it is his own government that is faltering, his own government that is being tested, his own government that has brought us here and his own government that drags behind it an admission of complete inability to handle the debt.

Samaras points out Papandreou forgets that the socialist governments of Greece more than tripled the country's borrowing, he forgets that Pasok introduce populism in Greece, he forgets that he personally promised all things to all people and that he himself first referred to the IMF in order to put a gun on the table but his bluff backfired on Greece and the gun went off in his hands.

Papandreou points out Greece will decide whether or not to activate the EU-IMF economic support mechanism within the next few weeks. He stresses that no official decision had yet been made and that the country is preparing so that it was ready, when it needs to press the button.

Papandreou notes the aid package is not a program for rescuing the Greek economy but would give Greece some breathing space in which to carry out necessary reforms, giving a margin to maneuver as it made changes that would make the economy sustainable.

Papandreou predicts that Greece would not find it difficult to borrow from markets in the coming month, stressing that the country will not default. According to Papandreou, the problem Greece currently faces is the high cost of borrowing and how long it could continue to borrow at this rate. Papandreou does not expect any problems, even in May, but this does not mean the Greek government has ruled out the possibility of activating the support mechanism.

The default of Greece cannot be avoided. The challenges facing Greece are similar to those that confronted Argentina, which defaulted on $95 billion of debt in 2001. There are a lot of similarities in terms of inflexibility of the currency, capital flight, huge taxes, and the risk of austerity measures leading to a sharp contraction in growth. Greece's financing needs are huge in the coming two years. It needs to prove to the market that it can drastically reduce expenses, taxes, sinecures, and Graecokleptocracy. The markets demand to see at least one Graecokleptocrat in jail!

Venitis asserts that Greece can easily pay its debt by selling its assets, such as land owned by the government, forests, islands, postoffice, colleges, state buildings, public TV stations, public radio stations, highways, ports, airports, state hospitals, mines, offshore drilling, and many other public services. Everything should be privatized. 90% of public jobs should be eliminated, because they are just sinecures, created in exchange for votes!

Greeks are fed up with all politicians. A range of government policies since the end of dictatorship in 1974 have made them feel powerless and betrayed by a centralized kleptocracy that claims to know what is good for them better than they do themselves. The welfare Graecokleptocracy has created not a feeling of security but a culture of dependency on crumbs and sinecures and a loss of responsibility. The all-powerful Graecokleptocrats are willing to say anything to fool Greeks and do anything to get kickbacks.

Basil Venitis, twitter.com/Venitis, points out that for 35 years since dictatorship, Pasokleptocrats and Neodemokleptocrats who took turns in running Greece, the most corrupt country on Earth, borrowed as if there were no tomorrow, and they received 200 billion euros in kickbacks from Siemens, JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, MAN, Daimler, antitrust, military purchases, monasteries, and many more. Through mismanagement, robbery, kickbacks, and nepotism, they drove the cradle of democracy to the brink of bankruptcy with a public debt of 350 billion euros.

Michael Christoforakos, the former president of Siemens Hellas, set a videocamera in his Siemens office, producing DVDs starring 200 Graecokleptocrats, kept at two public notaries. Christoforakos has the tiptop Greek politicians on DVD kowtowing to him for more kickbacks in exchange for lucrative overpriced contracts! The DVDs prove that Premier Costas Simitis, 10 ministers, and 80 MPs of Pasok, Premier Costas Caramanlis, 8 ministers, and 75 MPs of Nea Democratia, and 20 journalists shared two billion euros of kickbacks. Christoforakos, who now lives in Munich, identified John Bartholomew of Nea Democratia and Costas Geitonas of Pasok as the coordinators of kickbacks. Siemens set aside 10% of the revenue it received from state contracts to pay off Nea Democratia and Pasok as part of a bribery system that ran from 1975 to 2007.

The huge Greek debt is not due to spending, but robbing! It's not fair for poor Greeks to pay this debt, but for Graecokleptocrats to return the loot, mission impossible. That's why Greeks revolt against Graecokleptocrats with bombs, molotovs, guns, strikes, and riots! Many revolutionary groups try to overthrow Graecokleptocrats and hang them in front of the Greek Parliament! Most Greeks pray now for a coup!

It is the first time that every Greek is realizing that after years of Graecokleptocracy, it's time to fight back Graecokleptocrats. It's the only hopeful sign, actually. Greece has no choice but to reinvent itself. Reinventing Greece and cleaning up after years of Graecokleptocracy, however, is going to be a task worthy of Hercules. The time has come to pay the bill. And paying that bill, with the economy in the middle of a recession, is going to hurt. Nominal unemployment rate has hit 12%, and the real unemployment rate calculated by Basil Venitis is 25%!

No Graecokleptocrat has ever gone to jail! Venitis asserts that impunity of Graecokleptocrats is the most freakish justice in the world! The most infamous house on Earth is the Greek Parliament, aka the Grand Brothel of Syntagma Square, which houses 300 wild prostitutes, minotaurs that suck the blood of Greeks! It's a long way from the 300 Spartans of Leonidas to the 300 Graecokleptocrats of the Grand Brothel! Allons enfants de la Grece!

The average Greek citizen, forced to accept inferior public services or pay bribes to get around them, is understandably not inclined to pay his or her fair share of taxes. This problem is compounded by a tax system that is arcane, vague, and quite punitive for those who are not prepared to dodge or bribe the tax inspectors, a service that the affluent take disproportionate advantage of.

Untouchable Graecokleptocrats, the most corrupt politicians on Earth, those freaks that enjoy absolute impunity and full parliamentary immunity, assert that Greece's debt troubles herald a domino of sovereign defaults in eurozone that could derail an economic recovery. Venitis points out PIGS(Portugal, Italy, Greece, and Spain) account for half the debt of eurozone. PIGS are indeed piggy slave States that create many problems for Fourth Reich(EU), demanding high proportions of the Cohesion Fund, playing dirty games, encouraging political corruption, and spreading the cancer of socialism. Lazy pigs enjoy dolce vita and expect hard-working Britons and Germans to support them! Pigs come to the trough all time!

Venitis notes that Fourth Reich(EU) decided to become the bailout reich, a free-ride area where entitlement spending in PIGS is underwritten by North Fourthreichian taxpayers. Euro will stabilize in the short-term, as investors face reduced uncertainty. However, this locks Fourth Reich on a trajectory to gradual monetary collapse, the path currently being followed by the dollar. Eurogroup chairman Jean-Claude Juncker, premier of Luxembourg, points out the hard-working taxpayers of North eurozone refuse to subsidize the socialistic laziness and dolce vita of South eurozone.

Venitis muses that Papandreou is a Don Quixote who is tilting at the windmills of speculators. Papaconstantinou is a Sancho Panza who helps Papandreou to attack imaginary kallikantzaroi. The quixotic adventures of Papandreou lead nowhere, because he is surrounded by Graecokleptocrats who play farces on him. The cruel practical jokes eventually will lead Don Quixote to a great melancholy.

Papandreou warns speculators that a loaded gun is on the table, stressing that activation of the EU support mechanism for the Greek economy is not Greece's first choice but if it is needed, it is there. But now the loaded gun might turn out to be a water poistol! Some concerned Germans have launched a legal challenge at the Constitutional Court against the eurozone aid package for Greece agreed by finance ministers. Professor Joachim Starbatty and constitutional lawyer Wilhelm Hankel assert the aid package breaches the EU's Maastricht Treaty! They view the aid package as a subsidy which is forbidden as the interest rate offered is under the market rate for Greek bonds.

Papandreou asserts the big wager is dual, to best make use of the country's inexhaustible potential for the production of wealth, but also to distribute that wealth fairly. But Venitis notes fair distribution means playing Robin Hood, robbing producers with high taxes, a sure way for Greece to go belly up!

Venitist Matt Nisbet traveled to Toronto to investigate a weeping icon at a Greek Orthodox church. In front of a dozen television, newspaper, and radio reporters, Nickell collected samples of the tears for Toronto police lab analysis. The police termed the icon a fraud and concluded that the substance of the tears was olive oil. Last fall, over 20,000 people visited the church to witness the pseudomiracle, donating an estimated two million dollars. The ousted priest of the church has been accused of perpetrating the hoax and stealing the money from the church's coffers.

Basil Venitis points out the Shroud of Turin had first appeared in about 1355 at a small church in Lirey, France. According to a bishop's report written in 1389 to the Avignon pope, Clement VII, an artist ad­mitted he had cunningly painted the image of the crucified Christ on the cloth. Stylistic and iconographic elements corroborate a medieval artistic origin. So do modern carbon-14 tests, which yielded a date range of circa 1260—1390 ad, consistent with the time of the reported forger's confession. Famed microanalyst Walter C. McCrone had previously determined that the image had been rendered by an artist using red ocher and vermilion tempera paint.

Venitis note charlatan Saint Padre Pio's stigmata started with carbolic-acid misuse! Pio and some of the other friars at San Giovanni Rotondo were administering injections to boys who were ill with influenza. Alcohol not being available, an exhausted doctor left carbolic acid to be used for sterilizing needles and injection sites, while neglecteing to tell the friars it had to be diluted. As a result, Pio and another friar were left with angry red spots on their hands. Not only Padre Pio continued inducing his stigmata with acid, he also misused funds and had sex with female parishioners in the confessional. The founder of the Catholic university hospital in Rome branded Pio an ignorant and self-mutilating psychopath who exploited people's credulity.

The Fatima pseudomiracle has been described in many very different ways. Some claimed that the sun spun pinwheel-like with colored streamers, while others maintained that it danced. Most likely, there was a combination of factors, including optical effects and meteorological phenomena, such as the sun being seen through thin clouds, causing it to appear as a silver disc. Other possibilities include an alteration in the density of the passing clouds, causing the sun's image to alternately brighten and dim and so seem to advance and recede, and dust or moisture droplets in the atmosphere refracting the sunlight and thus imparting a variety of colors. The effects of suggestion were also likely involved, since devout spectators had come to the site fully expecting some miraculous event, had their gaze dramatically directed at the sun by Lucia, and excitedly discussed and compared their perceptions in a way almost certain to foster psychological contagion. Even Lucia's own mother declared that her precocious daughter was nothing but a fake who was leading half the world astray with pseudomiracles and pseudoapparitions of Virgin Mary!

The Holy Light is a hoax that occurs every year at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem on Holy Saturday, the day preceding Orthodox Easter. Criticism dates at least to the days of Islamic rule of Jerusalem, but the hoax is encouraged by Israel, because of the significant revenue it brings to Jerusalem. The culrpit, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem, recites a specific prayer, puts off his robes and enters alone into the sepulcher to perform the chemical hoax. The congregants subsequently chant Kyrie eleison(Lord, have mercy) until the 33 sensitive candles tied together ignite chemically inside the alleged tomb chamber of Jesus.

Basil Venitis points out Great Britain is now Little Britain, a slave State yoked to Brussels. Its fall was inevitable, but the economic crisis will shrink the last pretenses of empire faster than anyone expected. The primary purpose of public diplomacy is to explain, promote, and defend principles to audiences abroad. This objective goes well beyond the public affairs function of presenting and explaining specific policies of various Administrations. Policies and Administrations change; principles do not, so long as a country remains true to itself. By all accounts, Americans have been absent from the battlefield of ideas. They blankout when Venitis asks them why they have not expelled terrorist Turkey from NATO. How can they sit next to terrorist Turks who committed the Cypriot genocide? How did Henry Kissinger finance the Turkish invasion of Cyprus?

Public diplomacy has a particularly vital mission during war, when the peoples of other countries, whether adversaries or allies, need to know why we fight. What are the ideas so dear to us that we would rather kill and die than live without them? And what antithetical ideas do our enemies embrace, about which they feel the same way? After all, it is a conflict of ideas that is behind the shooting wars, and it is that conflict which must be won to achieve any lasting success. The main reasons for failure stem from intellectual confusion regarding what it is we are defending and against whom we are defending it. Venitis asserts the greatest confusion of all is the inclusion of genocidal Turkey in NATO. Terrorist Turkey has committed the Armenian genocide, the Pontian genocide, the Greek genocide, and the Cypriot genocide.

I, David Cameron, descendant of King William IV, leader of Tories,
will champion a distinctive British foreign policy, based on the renewing and reinforcing of our engagement with the rest of the world, the promotion of free trade, the tackling of climate change and poverty and the upholding of our values.

My approach to foreign affairs is based on a belief in freedom, human rights and democracy. I am sceptical about grand utopian schemes to remake the world. I will work patiently with the grain of other societies, but I will always support venitist values and human rights because they provide the foundations for stability and prosperity.

The most efficient political system is venitism, where everything is private, there are no taxes at all, there is no parliament, and a powerless infinitesimal government is chosen and supported not by hoi polloi, but by the most generous benefactors.

In order to achieve those goals, I have adopted five major themes to guide my approach to foreign affairs. These are:

* The creation of a National Security Council to integrate at the highest levels of government the work of our foreign, defence, energy, home and international development departments;

* A commitment to the transatlantic alliance, which is as necessary in 2010 as ever in order to make progress in Afghanistan, bring success in May at the review conference of the Non-Proliferation Treaty, and to deter and dissuade Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons;

* The deepening of alliances beyond Europe and North America, including a strong and effective relationship with China. We also want to build a `new special relationship' with India, to provide support for Pakistan, and to strengthen our ties with nations in the Gulf, North Africa and Latin America;

* The reform of older international institutions such as the United Nations and the effective use of new ones such as the G20; and

* A determination to uphold our own values abroad, not by imposing them on others but by being an inspiring example of them ourselves. We know Uncle Ken(UK)is safer and stronger when our values are strongly upheld and widely respected in the world. That is why we must strive to act with moral authority in our foreign policy.

Uncle Sam and Uncle Ken should retreat to offshore balancing, a strategy where a great power uses favored regional powers to check the rise of potential hostile powers. It permits a great power to maintain its power without the costs of large military deployments around the world. A great power will lose its credibility, if it keeps poking its nose in where it's not wanted. As an offshore balancer, a great power would keep its military forces outside the conflict area. Hence the term offshore. As for balancing, that would mean relying on regional powers to check each other. A great power would remain diplomatically engaged, and when necessary would assist the weaker side in a conflict.

Americans and Europeans too often tend to justify war for its own sake. As citizens they neglect their important role of questioning their governments, and that neglect has translated into too many de facto endorsements of the reckless use of NATO. It seems Americans would rather eternally send more soldiers into even more hurt lockers than confront and deal with gross government incompetence on foreign policy. If Americans cannot admit Iraq is a mistake, it's hard to imagine Americans admitting any war is a mistake.

Afghan president Hamid Karzai bites the hand that feeds him, doing his best to irritate the Western countries which keep him in power. Wily Karzai shows his independence, in order to survive the post-NATO era. Karzai is a drug addict, and his brother, Ahmad Wali, is the leading drug lord of Afghanistan, the greatest opium producer in the world. 95% of the opiates originate in Afghanistan!

Civilians are helpless and indecisive, caught between NATO forces and the insurgents, and thus unreliable. They might help you in the morning, then help your enemy in the evening. In fact forces are worried about protecting locals from them too, because there's so much collateral damage. When you do anything that harms the locals, you just have a huge chance of alienating the population. Soldiers trap Taliban fighters in residential compounds, then allow them to send out the women and children, only to discover the fighters had slipped in burqas and walked out as well.

You have to be able to distinguish between the armed enemy and the unarmed enemy, the population that supports the enemy and the population that doesn't support the enemy. The soldiers who don't know how to distinguish friend from enemy wind up multiplying the enemy. The NATO forces are the invader, the outsider, that's not going to change, and you add to this problem with your own record of human-rights violations. Soldiers cannot convince the locals they can protect them from the insurgents, after all, if the soldiers look like they are not sure they can protect themselves. The locals just ask the soldiers why are there in the first place, and the soldiers blank out!

George Bush and Tony Blair lied about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Neither the Iraqi people nor the Iraqi government participated in the 9/11 attacks or ever attacked the United States. That makes the U.S. government and the British government the unlawful aggressors, invaders, attackers, and occupiers in Iraq, which means our soldiers have no right, moral or legal, to be killing anyone in Iraq, including those Iraqis who are simply trying to rid their country of an illegal occupier.

Venitis points out the Butterfly Effect proves that you only need a major warmonger to transform a minor war to world war. Venitis muses that Winston Spencer Churchill's sadomasochist career lasted half a century, and no other Western warmonger was more calamitous for his country and civilization than Churchill. More than any other kleptocrat, in 1914 and 1939, Churchill lusted for war, his weird ac-dc foreplay, and pushed his country to turn two European wars into world wars. Both times, he succeeded, and those wars, that together took the lives of a hundred million Europeans, were the most infamous mortal blows on humanity. If Churchill did not interfere, Hitler could have wiped out communism from the surface of Earth by 1942.

Basil Venitis declares Eton is the best school on Earth, a paradigm for all schools to follow. Eton, is a British private lyceum for boys. All students board. It was founded in 1440 by King Henry VI. Eton has a very long list of distinguished alumni, including twenty former prime ministers. Traditionally, Eton is the chief nurse of England's statesmen and the most famous school in the world. No other school can claim to have sent forth such a brigade of distinguished figures to make their mark on the world. Etonians include myself, incoming Premier David Cameron of UK, and my very good friend Mayor Boris Johnson of London.

Education, Education, Education was Whigs' number one priority. They promised that standards would rise in every school; that teachers would be given the support they needed to maintain discipline; and that every child would be given the tools to succeed. Over the last 13 years, those promises have been broken.

Venitis asserts that a real public school is not defined by who owns it, but by universal access and accountability to the public for results. It matters little whether public schools are run by a school board, a group of parents, a teachers union, a company, or a church. Once public money flows to private schools, they are no longer really private. The government's hooks will be firmly set to brainwash and dumb down the kids, in the name of public accountability. Vouchers open the door to government control of private schools. Private schools are already regulated by every State, but they are not as regulated as public achools. If the voucher plan is ever embraced in a big way, we can expect elaborate criteria for determining which schools may accept vouchers.

Public schools dumb down the curriculum, in teaching pseudoesteem over knowledge, in challenging Graecoroman notions of truth and virtue, and in convincing children that their parents are not to be trusted. It is an insidious bargain that encourages young people to stop thinking for themselves in exchange for living in a statist world in which they will never be held accountable and will never be expected to care for themselves.

Classrooms are filled with note-passers and texters, who casually ignore teachers struggling to make it to the end of the 50-minute period. Smart kids are bored, and slower kids are left behind. Anxiety about standardized tests is high, and scores are consistently low. National surveys find that parents despair over the quality of education — and they're right to, as test results confirm again and again.

Venitis asserts the public school monopoly has to be ended, and genuine competition has to be restored. The National Education Association's #1 priority isn't quality education. It is its members' financial and political power. American Federation of Teachers President Al Shanker, who was one of this century's best labor union presidents, once openly admitted, "I will begin to care about the quality of children's education in this country when they start paying union dues." Now, this may shock you, but it really shouldn't surprise you.

Education, like any other service, is best provided by the free market, achieving greater quality and efficiency with more diversity of choice. Public schools should be managed locally to achieve greater accountability and parental involvement. Recognizing that the education of children is inextricably linked to moral values, venitists would return authority to parents to determine the education of their children, without interference from kleptocrats. In particular, parents should have responsibility for all funds expended for their children's education. Government should stay out of education.

The gap between rich and poor pupils is widening; standards are falling; violence and disruption in schools are rife; and we are sliding down the international league tables for education. To make matters worse, parents are rendered powerless to choose a better option for their children; under Whigs, school choice is a myth. We can't go on like this.

So Tories will:

* Restore discipline and order to the classroom . We will give teachers the tools and powers they need to keep order in the classroom. We will abolish the legal requirement of 24 hours' notice for detentions; reform the exclusion process; and give headteachers the power to ban, search for, and confiscate any items they think may cause violence or disruption.

* Raise the status of the teaching profession. Move to a high quality system of teacher recruitment and training by raising entry requirements, expanding Teach First and incentivising top maths and science graduates.

* Raise standards. We will take urgent action to reverse the decline in standards. We will reform the National Curriculum, remove political interference from GCSEs and A-levels, and allow state schools to do the same high quality exams as private schools. We will replace Key Stage 1 Sats with a simple reading test, reform Key Stage 2 Sats, and make Ofsted report on schools' setting policies and reading schemes.

* Create a new generation of independently run state schools. We will make it much easier for educational charities, groups of parents and teachers, cooperatives and others to start new Academies (independent, non-selective state schools). We will move to a national per pupil funding system, so that new schools get paid if they attract pupils, with extra funding for the poorest pupils (a pupil premium).

A Tory government will give every child the kind of education that is currently available only to the well-off: safe classrooms, talented and specialist teachers, access to the best curriculum and exams, and smaller schools with smaller classes and teachers who know the children's names.

Homeschool is a legal option in many places, for parents to provide their children with a learning environment as an alternative to school. Parents cite numerous reasons as motivations to homeschool, including better academic test results, poor school environment, improved character development, and objections to what is taught in school.

There is nothing wrong with laying out suggestions for what the average child should know by a certain grade. But most kids aren't the average child, and the Common Core State Standards Initiative isl not just suggestions. All kids are different. They grow, mature, and learn at different rates, and develop different talents and interests. In light of that obvious reality, to build an education system that treats all kids as if they are the same is insanity.

Simplistic rhetoric of national-standards advocates notwithstanding, research simply does not demonstrate that national standards lead to superior educational outcomes. And, no, adopting the Common Core standards is not voluntary. With states risking billions of federal dollars if they don't adopt them, the standards are for all intents and purposes federal standards, and their adoption mandatory.

One of the greatest gifts we can give to succeeding generations is the ability to think for themselves, and that means challenging the government monopoly of thought in education directly. It will be a struggle. All it takes is a trip to the ruins of the Berlin Wall to remind us that governments never give up power voluntarily. It is up to us to reassert our rights and recover our responsibilities.

Venitis points out that half of one's knowledge is outdated within four years! Thinking should be the top priority of education. The proper goal of education is to foster the conceptual development of the child, to instill in him the knowledge and cognitive powers needed for mature life. It involves taking the whole of human knowledge, selecting that which is essential to the child's conceptual development, presenting it in a way that allows the student to clearly grasp both the material itself and its value to his life, and thereby supplying him with both crucial knowledge and the rational thinking skills that will enable him to acquire real knowledge ever after.

Unschool refers to a range of educational practices on allowing children to learn through their natural life experiences, including child directed play, game play, household responsibilities, and social interaction, rather than through the confines of a school. Unschool differs from school principally in that standard curricula and of school, are counterproductive to the goal of maximizing the education of each child.

Basil Venitis, twitter.com/Venitis, asserts that public school employee unions are politically partisan and polarizing institutions. 95% of their contributions have gone to antivenitists. Not entirely coincidentally, venitists have often accused these unions of simultaneously raising the cost and lowering the quality of public schools. Many advocates of charter schools, vouchers, education tax credits, homeschoolig, and unschooling, have cited union political influence as the greatest impediment to their chosen reforms.

Increasingly, states and school districts are using technology or online learning to improve the delivery and efficiency of elementary and secondary education. As many as one million children in USA are participating in some form of online learning. Today, 27 states offer statewide virtual schools that allow students to take classes online, and 24 states and the District of Columbia allow students to attend a virtual school full time.

Online learning can be more than lectures. Another element involves presenting information in an interactive form, which can be used to find out what a student knows and doesn't know. Teachers have very few tools to gauge just how many students are grasping a concept in real time and reshape the curriculum to meet their needs.

Few people have a clear picture of what online education really looks like, which is one reason so many people are reluctant to consider what it has to offer. Learning online won't turn your country into a nation of home-schooled nerds, sitting in their basements, keyboards clacking. And it doesn't mean handing your kids over to robots for the day. Some online learning models eliminate human interaction, but the vast majority do not. Instead, they connect students and teachers via polls, video, chat, text and good old-fashioned phone calls.

Online education gives students in dysfunctional urban districts the chance to enroll in high-quality classes or language instruction without an expensive move to a suburban district or a private school. Cities benefit, too, as families uncomfortable with the quality of urban public schools can continue to live near their downtown offices while enrolling their children in Web-based programs, reducing white flight and suburban sprawl.

But though the families of students enrolled in online programs rave about them, cultural resistance has been slow to fade. And winning hearts and minds isn't the only hurdle to widespread adoption: Virtual education remains essentially illegal in many states, including New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Seat-time requirements, which mandate that students' butts be in classroom chairs, often within the sightline of a qualified teacher, for a certain number of hours, are a major barrier.

The only way online education companies can respond to concerns about quality and age-appropriateness is if they are given the chance to experiment and win over students and parents. Government policies need to be tweaked, and companies need investment to grow. But for online education to really take off, we need to let the chalkboard in the little red schoolhouse go, and learn to love the glow of a child's face lit by a laptop screen.

The global war on terror, now referred to as overseas contingency operations, is without end and without limits, and has made the West hated and feared in most of the world. It has even made Westerners potential targets of their own government without any recourse to the protections afforded by the American Constitution or the Lisbon Treaty. Foreign military deaths in Afghanistan are from United States 1,050, Britain 290, Canada 150, Germany 48, France 45, Denmark 35, Spain 32, Italy 26, Netherlands 24, other nations 82.

The exploitation of fear of terrorism by kleptocrats has led to wars that did not have to be fought. Fear has been the key to the door for expansion of government, and kleptocrats have seized the opportunity. It has also eroded the liberties that have defined our Graecoroman culture.

Basil Venitis points out Uncle Sam and Fourth Reich(EU) now spend two trillion euros every year on the military, homeland security, and intelligence. There are 5,000 active terrorists in the world. This works out to spending 400 million euros per terrorist per year. Fear of terrorism drives growth in government and has led to involvement in multiple little wars and some bigger ones as well as subsequent exercises in nation building, all of which have been unconstitutional, and none of which have turned out well.

The war on terror has been used to justify trillions of dollars in spending, hundreds of thousands of new government positions, and thousands of new government contracts. At the same time, the war on terror has produced very little in terms of new technology or enhanced security, has vastly increased the degree of national centralization, and has created many new permanent trees and branches in the gnarled world of kleptocracy. Furthermore, it has led to conditions and changes antivenitists hope for, massive growth in spending, new permanent and centralized government institutions, and worst of all, an incredibly stupid militarization of the pursuit of terror.

Chinese general Sun Tzu understood that understatement and deception is necessary in war. He asserted to be extremely subtle, even to the point of formlessness. Be extremely mysterious, even to the point of soundlessness. Thereby you can be the director of the opponent's fate.
Instead, American approach has been to almost randomly identify countries and governments and very publicly, go after them. The only mystery of our military and foreign policy is in the minds of the American people, who do not understand why the war isn't won yet, and why the enemy seems to be expanding, getting smarter, and hating us more.

Sun Tzu pointed out that if ignorant both of your enemy and yourself, you are certain to be in peril. He was right about that, but in fact you wouldn't know it from the obscene confidence and outright idiocy put out by the Pentagon, and eagerly embraced by two presidents, one a conservative, the other, an antivenitist. We, as venitists, ought to care about getting back to a kind of venitist normal, not creating a stupid normal of unconstitutional government, unsupportable debt, and endless war. We should want victory in the War on Terror but understand that victory must include a return to small government venitism. Sun Tzu asserted that he who knows when he can fight and when he cannot, will be victorious.

Von Clausewitz, a famous German strategist, knew that the first, the supreme, the most far-reaching act of judgment that the statesman and commander have to make is to establish the kind of war on which they are embarking. But instead, we are still debating the question of "What is this war on terror?" More and more we are asking, why isn't it working, and when will it end. Instead of Sun Tzu and Von Clausewitz our strategy has been more theatrics than tactics, and running on a script written by those who stand to benefit from more government, and more government spending, than those Americans who are venitists and who in their hearts, do value the Constitution.

The war on terror is simply not succeeding. In many of our overseas battlefields, we are creating and growing new terrorists, and smarter terrorists. We are increasingly exposing our own weaknesses in terms of occupation and counterinsurgency, and even as we institutionally learn from our mistakes, it is always too slow, always after the fact.

We seem to be supporting a vague policy of global nation building. We keep hoping that putting another one of our crooked guys in charge of a country will work, and we keep hoping that military and economic blackmail can keep the locals in line. That's just idiotic.
It may be that our military policy is not designed to reduce terror at all, but is instead simply designed to evolve hand-in-hand with the war on terror, in order to maximize the opportunity for growth of American intelligence and security institutions. Permanent institutional growth.

Many predictions about the next decade have been made recently. One thing not predicted for 2010 is a reduction of American forces, or fewer American interferences and entanglements overseas. No one is predicting the ending of America's illegal wars, or even the ending of a front in just one of the illegal wars.

The nearly decade-long experiment in government growth called the war on terror has been a cruel joke that history will rightfully blame on the Republican Party. It's not working can all see that. But only venitists are truly in a position to offer a reasonable alternative. And that alternative is to energize venitism in our defensive strategy and foreign affairs, and to rediscover the sound advice of Sun Tzu, Von Clausewitz, and more than ever, the American founding fathers.

Venitis asserts that Uncle Sam should retreat to offshore balancing, a strategy where a great power uses favored regional powers to check the rise of potential hostile powers. It permits a great power to maintain its power without the costs of large military deployments around the world.
